1. Introduction
These Booking Terms and Conditions govern all bookings made with Marathon Sports Travel (“Marathon Sports Travel”, “we”, “us” or “our”) for:
- Sports event tickets;
- Concert and entertainment tickets;
- Hospitality packages;
- Event packages;
- Sports travel packages;
- Accommodation arranged by Marathon Sports Travel;
- Transport services arranged by Marathon Sports Travel; and
- Any ancillary services purchased through our website or booking channels.
By making a booking, the Lead Booker confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all persons included within the booking.
2. Contract Formation
A booking is only confirmed when:
- We receive full payment or any agreed deposit;
- Availability has been confirmed by our supplier(s); and
- A booking confirmation has been issued by Marathon Sports Travel.
Submission of a booking request does not constitute acceptance of the booking by Marathon Sports Travel.
Should a supplier be unable to fulfil a booking request, Marathon Sports Travel reserves the right to decline the booking and refund any monies paid.
3. Lead Booker Responsibilities
The Lead Booker must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Have authority to make the booking on behalf of all persons included within the booking;
- Ensure that all names, dates of birth and other booking details are accurate;
- Ensure all travellers have valid travel documentation where required;
- Ensure that all members of the booking comply with venue, transport, accommodation and event rules.
The Lead Booker accepts responsibility for all payments due in connection with the booking.
4. Supplier Terms and Conditions
Marathon Sports Travel works with third-party suppliers including, but not limited to:
- Sports clubs;
- Event organisers;
- Ticket distributors;
- Hospitality providers;
- Hotels;
- Airlines;
- Rail operators;
- Coach operators; and
- Other travel service providers.
All bookings are subject to the terms and conditions of the relevant supplier(s) in addition to these Booking Terms and Conditions.
Operational requirements imposed by suppliers may take precedence where necessary for the delivery of the booked services.
5. Ticket-Only Bookings
Where Marathon Sports Travel supplies event tickets only:
- Tickets are sold subject to venue and organiser terms and conditions.
- Event schedules may change.
- Match dates and kick-off times may change.
- Seat allocations may be amended by the venue or organiser.
- Admission remains subject to venue rules and security procedures.
Marathon Sports Travel cannot guarantee specific seat numbers unless expressly confirmed in writing.
For multiple ticket bookings, we will endeavour to seat guests together wherever possible but cannot guarantee adjacent seating unless specifically confirmed.
6. Sporting Event Schedule Changes
Sporting fixtures may be altered by clubs, leagues, governing bodies, broadcasters or event organisers.
When purchasing tickets for sporting events, customers are purchasing the right to attend the event regardless of any subsequent change to:
- Date;
- Kick-off time;
- Schedule; or
- Venue (where applicable).
No refund shall be available where an event is rescheduled but still takes place.
Customers should ensure they remain available to attend on any revised fixture date.
7. Travel Packages
Where a booking includes accommodation, transport, hospitality or other travel-related services:
- Services may be provided by independent third-party suppliers.
- Marathon Sports Travel may act as organiser, retailer or intermediary depending on the nature of the booking.
- Supplier conditions apply alongside these Terms and Conditions.
Customers are responsible for ensuring they have:
- Valid passports;
- Necessary visas;
- Appropriate travel insurance;
- Required vaccinations or health documentation; and
- Compliance with all entry requirements applicable to their destination.
Any loss arising from a customer’s failure to meet such requirements shall be the customer’s responsibility.
8. Travel Insurance
Marathon Sports Travel strongly recommends that customers obtain comprehensive travel insurance for all bookings involving:
- Overseas travel;
- Accommodation;
- Transport;
- Hospitality packages; or
- High-value event tickets.
Travel insurance should include cover for:
- Cancellation;
- Curtailment;
- Medical expenses;
- Travel disruption;
- Personal belongings; and
- Supplier insolvency where available.
Failure to obtain adequate travel insurance is entirely at the customer’s own risk.
9. Pricing
All prices are stated in Euro (€) unless otherwise specified.
Prices may include:
- Ticket costs;
- Booking fees;
- Administration charges;
- Supplier fees;
- Taxes;
- VAT;
- Hospitality elements; and
- Other package components.
The amount paid by the customer may exceed the face value printed on a ticket.
No refund shall be payable solely on the basis that the face value differs from the booking price paid.
10. Deposits and Payments
Where deposits are accepted:
- Deposits are non-refundable unless otherwise stated in writing.
- Outstanding balances must be paid by the due date stated on the booking confirmation.
Failure to pay outstanding balances by the due date may result in:
- Cancellation of the booking;
- Loss of deposit;
- Loss of ticket allocations; and
- Additional supplier cancellation charges.
11. Booking Amendments
Once confirmed, amendments may not always be possible.
Where amendments are permitted:
- Supplier approval may be required;
- Administration charges may apply;
- Additional supplier charges may apply;
- Revised pricing may apply.
Marathon Sports Travel cannot guarantee that requested amendments can be accommodated.
12. Customer Cancellation
Unless otherwise stated in writing, the following cancellation terms shall apply.
Ticket-Only Bookings
All ticket sales are final.
Once confirmed, ticket bookings cannot normally be:
- Cancelled;
- Refunded;
- Exchanged; or
- Transferred.
Sports Travel, Hospitality and Package Bookings
Where a booking includes travel services, accommodation, hospitality, transfers or other package elements, the following cancellation charges shall apply:

| Within 60 Days of Departure/Event | 100% of Total Booking Value |
| Non-Appearance / Failure to Travel or Attend | 100% of Total Booking Value |
Cancellation charges are calculated from the date written notification of cancellation is received by Marathon Sports Travel.
No refund shall be payable for:
- Unused services;
- Missed departures;
- Missed events;
- Late arrivals;
- Voluntary withdrawal from a trip or event after commencement.
Supplier-specific cancellation terms and specific package cancellation conditions may override these provisions where imposed by airlines, hotels, ticket suppliers, event organisers, hospitality providers or other suppliers. Such terms shall form part of the booking contract where applicable.
Where a supplier imposes cancellation charges exceeding those set out above, Marathon Sports Travel reserves the right to recover such costs from the customer.
13. Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements
Where Marathon Sports Travel sells a combination of two or more travel services, such as event tickets, accommodation, flights, rail travel, coach transfers, hospitality services or other travel arrangements under a single booking, the booking may constitute a Package Holiday or Linked Travel Arrangement under the:
European Union (Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements) Regulations 2018.
Where these Regulations apply:
- Customers will benefit from all applicable rights and protections provided under the Regulations.
- Marathon Sports Travel will provide the mandatory pre-contractual information required by law.
- Customers may have rights relating to significant changes before departure.
- Customers may, subject to the Regulations, have rights to transfer a booking to another traveller.
- Assistance will be provided where travellers experience difficulties during their trip where required by law.
- Refund rights arising from unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances shall be governed by the applicable provisions of the Regulations.
Where Marathon Sports Travel supplies only a standalone ticket without any additional travel services, these Regulations will generally not apply.
Nothing within these Terms and Conditions is intended to exclude or limit any rights afforded to consumers under the European Union (Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements) Regulations 2018, the Consumer Rights Act 2022, or any other applicable Irish or European consumer protection legislation.
14. Event Cancellation or Postponement
Should an event be:
- Cancelled;
- Postponed;
- Rescheduled; or
- Materially altered,
Marathon Sports Travel shall act in accordance with the instructions and policies of the relevant organiser, promoter, club, venue or supplier.
Any refund offered shall be subject to supplier authorisation and may be limited to monies recovered by Marathon Sports Travel from the supplier.
Marathon Sports Travel shall not be liable for:
- Flights;
- Accommodation;
- Travel costs;
- Subsistence expenses;
- Parking charges;
- Loss of earnings; or
- Any indirect or consequential loss.
15. Force Majeure
Marathon Sports Travel shall not be liable for any failure or delay in the performance of its obligations arising from circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including:
- Severe weather;
- Natural disasters;
- Government action;
- Pandemic or epidemic events;
- Industrial disputes;
- Terrorism;
- Civil unrest;
- Venue closures;
- Transport disruptions;
- Supplier insolvency; or
- Any other force majeure event.
Refunds in such circumstances shall remain subject to the policies of the relevant supplier.
16. Behaviour and Conduct
Customers must behave responsibly and appropriately during all events, travel arrangements and hospitality experiences.
Marathon Sports Travel reserves the right to cancel arrangements without refund where a customer:
- Acts abusively or aggressively;
- Behaves in a manner likely to cause distress or annoyance;
- Engages in unlawful activity;
- Damages property;
- Poses a risk to health or safety; or
- Breaches venue, hotel, transport or supplier regulations.
Any resulting costs shall remain the responsibility of the customer.
17. Football Home Supporter Seating
Unless explicitly confirmed otherwise:
- Football tickets are supplied within the home supporters’ section.
- Wearing opposition team colours is not permitted.
- Openly supporting the away team is not permitted.
Failure to comply may result in:
- Refusal of admission;
- Removal from the stadium; or
- Confiscation of tickets.
No refund or compensation shall be payable in such circumstances.
18. Ticket Delivery
Tickets may be delivered by:
- E-ticket;
- Mobile ticket;
- App transfer;
- Voucher;
- Hotel delivery;
- Venue collection; or
- Other methods determined by the supplier.
Delivery methods may be changed at short notice by the venue, organiser or supplier.
Customers are responsible for checking their email inbox and junk/spam folders regularly. Marathon Sports Travel accepts no responsibility where customers fail to review booking communications.
19. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall exclude or limit liability where such limitation is prohibited by law.
Subject to the foregoing:
- Marathon Sports Travel’s maximum liability shall be limited to the total value of the booking paid by the customer.
- Marathon Sports Travel shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses.
- Marathon Sports Travel shall not be liable for acts, omissions or failures of independent suppliers.
- Marathon Sports Travel shall not be liable for losses arising from travel disruption beyond its reasonable control.
20. Data Protection
Marathon Sports Travel processes personal data in accordance with:
- The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR);
- The Data Protection Act 2018 (Ireland);
- Applicable Irish ePrivacy Regulations; and
- The Marathon Sports Travel Privacy Policy.
Customer information may be shared with suppliers where necessary to fulfil bookings and provide services.
21. Complaints

Complaints should be submitted as soon as reasonably possible and preferably within 14 days of the relevant event or travel completion date.
22. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Booking Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland.
Any dispute arising from these Terms and Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish Courts.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall affect any statutory rights available to consumers under Irish or European Union law.
